February Favorites

It's hard to believe another month has flown by! Here are a few things I loved in February.

Naked Skin Beauty Balm by Urban Decay. This stuff is great. I often wear this under foundation, or just on its own with a little concealer. I have some redness in my cheeks, and this covers it well.

Carried Away lotion by Bath and Body Works. I stopped going to B&BW when I was in my late twenties. I tended to buy ALL THE THINGS and didn't have room to store all those lotions and body items. For years, I went simple. When I started going there for their candles, I sampled their fragrances. I was surprised to see some of my old favorites (like Sweet Pea, which is now way too sweet for me) and discovered a few new favorites. Some of their fragrances do skew a little younger, in my opinion. I still wear scents I wore in my twenties, but my tastes are a little more mature now.

That was a long, round-about way of saying I love the Carried Away scent. It's not as powerful as my other favorite, Velvet Sugar, but it's a light scent perfect for spring. I also love the Twilight Woods scent.

One more I was too lazy to photograph: Origins Checks & Balances face wash I used to be obsessed with Origins, but I fell away from the brand for one reason or another. This face wash is perfect for the shower, as it gets really frothy. It helps to keep my oily skin at bay.

Super Cacao from Vitacost. I love Vitacost, I get all of my vitamins and supplements from them. Their Super Cacao bars are just the best. They're not cheap, at about $2.50 per bar, but I just eat two squares per serving, so I get three servings per bar. These are super tasty dark chocolate bars with a blend of nutrients in them, so I feel less guilty about getting my chocolate fix!

Lovely Candy Company Superfruit Chews. OMG, are these addictive! They're like a Superfruit Starburst. So freaking good. I'm so glad Target carries them now!

Book: Hollow City by Ransom Riggs
I think this one has been on a lot of people's favorites in the last month or so since it came out. I adored Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, so it was a total no-brainer to reserve this at the library when it came out. I really enjoyed it and I can't wait for the next in the series!

My other favorite book surprised me! My husband and I went to a different library in our system, the newest, shiniest branch in the system. We love to go there just because it's such a cool library. I was looking through the books on display and discovered Born of Illusion. It was funny, because I'd just been at the dentist and one of my favorite movies, The Prestige was on, and I was in the mood for an illusionist historical fiction kind of book. I was drawn in my the cover and it was such a breeze to read. So glad I picked it up!

Girls is one of those shows that I thought I would hate. I was bored one day and tried the first episode. I was surprised to find that I loved it and I tore through the first two seasons in two days. Never has a TV show made me feel so happy that I'm no longer in my twenties!

Another HBO show I'm loving is True Detective.

It's a pretty dark show, and to be honest, it can be a little slow paced at times. But the acting is outstanding and I'm looking forward to seeing how the mystery plays out!
